Pictures by Brooke

Brooke got a camera for Christmas! She took 252 pictures in under 2 hours. Maybe she'll be like her daddy!

Videos from Disney World

DANCING WITH THE BAND: This one might be my favorite of the bunch because of the very end. Even if skip some of the middle, watch the end! I think Brooke knows everyone was there to see her, not the band!

LIGHT PARADE: Nothing special here. Just a cool Disney light parade.

CONGA LINE WITH TIGGER AND POOH: Loved this one! The look on her face was priceless!

DISNEY PARADE: Another Disney parade.

DANCING IN THE STREETS: At this parade, they let you come out and dance in the streets with them. Brooke is always up for that!

Disney World!

We just spent a week in Orlando and went to Disney World and Sea World. Words can't explain how excited Brooke was to see Mickey, the princesses, and the rest of the gang. We had breakfast with the princesses, lunch with Tigger and Pooh, and lunch with the Little Einsteins, JoJo, and Goliath. I've broken down our pictures by the days we were there and will make a new post once the videos are ready.

Day 1 (Downtown Disney)

Day 2 (Magic Kingdom)

Day 3 (Epcot)

Day 4 (Animal Kingdom)

Day 5 (Downtown Disney / Sea World)

Day 6 (Sea World)

Day 7 (Hollywood Studios)

Trike-athon 2009!

Brooke's school had a "trike-athon" to raise money for Circle of Friends. We decked out the tricycle in her favorite color: pink. We had feather boas, streamers, balloons, her princess microphone, and a sweet license plate with her name on it. Before she got started, she told me "Daddy, we're going to race!" I tried to explain that it wasn't a race, but she wasn't convinced. I fear my insurance rates in the future! Before it was all said and done, I think she hit 3 people, almost rammed the wall, and passed everyone... nobody passed her!

Pumpkin coloring

Brooke learned how to create a custom pumpkin design on playhouse Disney's website, print the pumpkin on a background, color it, and then hang it on our refrigerator with magnets. Oh my! She enjoyed this a little too much! At last check, I think we have about 15 on the frig now! At first, she was very careful to stay in the lines and use multiple crayon colors. By the time she was done however, it had turned into a frenzied speed-coloring dash! She just couldn't wait to get to her next creation!

Giraffes Aren't Dangerous

Holly: "Brooke, what would you like for lunch?"
Brooke: "A giraffe!"
Todd: "Um, that might not be legal."
Holly: "Yeah, giraffes might be endangered."
Brooke: "No, mommy. Giraffes aren't dangerous!"

Brooke's Tomato Friend

Ok... we thought this was just an unusual little thing Brooke did last year and assumed it was a one-time deal. Apparently not! She likes to play with cherry tomatoes! No, she won't eat them; after all, it is a vegetable. But, she will carry one all over the house and pretend it is her friend. Last year, she would push it in a stroller, talk to it, and put it in her dollhouse. Just last week, she took her tomato with her at bath time, put shampoo on its "hair," and shoved it into her Little People pirate ship's cannon.

The following morning she took it with her in the van on the way to school. Along the way, she talked to it, sang songs to the tomato, and even took it with her into class! I'm not sure what happened with the tomato that morning, but I did receive a disturbing email from Holly in the afternoon. The poor tomato met an untimely death at lunchtime in the cafeteria when he was dropped on the floor and someone accidentally stepped on him.

That evening I asked her what happened to the tomato at school today. Her one-word reply was, "Squished!" I asked who squished the tomato. "Donna Lou" was her reply. Fortunately, she didn't seem to upset or angry about it!

Choices!!!

Holly has been working hard on teaching Brooke about making good choices. As you might expect, Brooke loves to test us to the very limits when it comes to making choices. Yesterday, she had been doing great all day and I guess it was building up a lot of frustration along the way!

She was about to get into trouble when Holly said, "Brooke, remember to make a good choice."

Brooke replied, "I don't WANT to make GOOD choices. I want to make a BAD choice!."
(CAPS added to show Brooke's emphasis on her words!)

Fortunately, she made a good choice anyways, but it appears that making good choices doesn't exactly come naturally!

Pink

When Brooke was out of school, she and I got to have a "daddy - daughter day." I thought I'd take some shots of her pink room to show everyone. We had a blast!

Interview with Brooke

For whatever reason, Brooke just couldn't sleep the other night. I took the opportunity to do a video interview with her. It's pretty long so I'm sure not everyone will want to watch all of it, but it is pretty cute!

Pinkabella Party

Brooke went to her first Pinkabella birthday party today. I'm afraid that we'll probably be having one too since she loved it so much!

She said WHAT?!?!

Holly and I took Brooke for a walk through the neighborhood the other day. She got pretty tired toward the end so I let her ride on my shoulders. She began to "fix" my hair as we walked up and down the neighborhood streets. Then, I heard her say "It looks gray! Daddy you're hair looks gray!" What?!?! I know I'm getting gray hairs, but are you serious??? If only she knew she was the source for all my gray hairs!!!

Brooke's prayer

Brooke just said her prayers before nap time.

"Thank you for MaMaw and PaPaw
God, thank you for MawMaw and PawPaw
and to go swimming in the pool.
God, thank you for Dr. Slay to look in my ears.
Amen"

Hahahaha! The funny part is that Dr. Slay had to look in her ears to give the "go ahead" that she could swim again. She is very thankful he said "yes!"

Flying a kite with the Potty Princess

Yesterday was a great day for us since Brooke used the potty! Oh, how our lives have changed over the years! The "Potty Princess" got to wear her crown, use her magic wand, have a sucker, go out to dinner, and fly her kite! Yes, we're doing our best to bribe her. Circles in the Carpet

Brooke decided to begin the newest fashion trend in today's home decor. She had disappeared to her bedroom for a few minutes which should have been my first clue she was up to something. She came running out saying "I made circles, I made circles Daddy!" I decided I better investigate what these "circles" were. When I rounded the corner to her room, she threw her arm out to the side as if modeling something on "The Price is Right" and said, "Circles daddy!"

I look on the floor and I see circles everywhere... kinda like those alien crop designs. I'm not sure if you can tell by the picture, but trust me, they're there! They go from one end of the room all the way to the other!

Here, Brooke is demonstrating the procedure you'll want to take to create your own circle pattern on your carpeting:

I'm sure that you can pay her to do your carpeting as well if you don't have the time yourself. Let me assure you, however, her rates are quite high!

Financial Bribery

Oh, the joys of parenting a 2-year-old! We pleaded with Brooke for hours today to go on the potty. We tried bribing with M&Ms, suckers, ice cream from McDonalds, and about everything else in the world. Still, nothing. Finally, Holly jokingly said she would give her money. To my surprise, Brooke exhibited a new-found interest in trying!

She said, "money?" in an inquisitive tone as if to verify the deal that was offered. Mommy promised a quarter if she went on the potty. At this point, I told Holly I'd be scared if she went potty now, after all, this could be a troubling trend! Guess what! She ran to the potty, sat down, and went immediately!

After she was done, Holly exclaimed, "We get to go to McDonalds now! Hooray!"

Brooke followed up immediately with, "And get money too! I want money!"

I may need everyone's prayers!!!
